Thank you. I appreciate the kind words. I know that this is a little idealistic on my part, but I feel that as GunShy grows our customer base and builds some statistics on first time gun buyers, that I will be able to approach the gun stores and provide some solutions for some of these challenges. There may be some reasons for some of the things that you talked about, but I feel very strongly that "Customer service is customer service" in any industry. The demand on their time and merchandise has been great over the last year and you will find that your experience will get better as you get more familiar with their "world" and their "language." I started GunShy to try to fill this very void that you mentioned and I hope to have an impact on getting people to the gun stores prepared and confident.

Thank You GunShy! As a first time gun researcher/shopper, I quickly found how confusing it can be. 9mm,40sw,45acp,45gap,SAO,DAO,DA/SA,FTE,FTF...what does all that mean. And forget about a local gun shop helping you. Coming from a retail back ground, the most amazing thing I found is that gun shops are anti-retail. Don't ask questions because you will be snickered at. Forget about trying to get service from anyone. I called one gun shop and was looking for a particular make. The "salesperson" said they had 2 guns from that manufacturer in stock. I simply asked if could tell me what the models were. He said he didn't know. I asked him to check when he had time and call be back. The exact response was, "Yea, that will never happen." This same type of service or lack there of was found at 2 other local gun shops. It is appalling! So my confusion and frustration only mounted. So I turned to the internet and all I found was more confusing information. What I did find is there are a lot of opinions out there but no where could I find objectivity. There are those die hard fans for every manufacturer and they are not afraid to rave their brand and criticize every other brand. Then a friend of mine told be about GunShy. Mana from Heaven! Finally, someone with a passion for guns, gun safety and gun education. I met with Sheldon and quickly found that his only interest was to help me make the best decision for me. He didn't have any agenda's. He wasn't selling any one caliber or make or model. One cannot talk to Sheldon for very long without quickly discovering his passion for guns and doing it the right way. Service was resurrected! Respect was given! There really are no dumb questions (just dumb gun shops)! Sheldon answered so many questions. He also suggested we go shoot guns! He loaded up his arsenal and made sure we had enough ammo and headed out to the desert. For 2 hours, he answered question after question. He provided safety lesson after safety lesson. He taught and explained and explained and taught. We went through about 100 rounds of ammo and I had the opportunity to shoot 12-15 different guns. For the first time since I started researching/shopping, I felt like someone really cared about helping me. It was truly an amazing experience for someone who was truly gun shy! My fears have been replaced with confidence. My doubts have been replaced with knowledge. Confusion and frustration are gone. My only desire and wish was that Sheldon could sell guns so I would never have to deal with a local gun shop again. I truly feel GunShy will help so many hesitate, confused and sincere people who really want to understand and do the right thing and make wise decisions. Thank you to Sheldon for his wisdom, his passion and his eagerness to teach, educate, train and answer questions. No need to ever be gun shy again. Turn to GunShy!

Are we voting here? I like the slanted. I work a lot with graphics. That slanted log is done exceptionally well, and the slanted letter makes it even more eye-catching. I’d like to see the forum host end up with an animation that has a moving bullet hitting a moving target!

I remember a story I was told as a kid. My raconteur was a pawn shop owner. He told of two men on an elevator on the sixth floor of an office building. Each man drew a handgun and emptied their respective clips or chambers between the 6th and 1st floor. When the elevator doors open, both men started running. The pawnshop owner’s point was: It isn’t as easy as you think to hit your aggressor.

Many years later, and in deference to this forum, here is my take:

NOT ONLY do folks need training in safety, but they need training in usage. If you don’t KNOW that you can use that weapon effectively you will be hesitant to “go for it.” That hesitation could cost a life. I know we all want to hope we’ll never have to fire a gun in self defense. But think about this: You can win the draw, and feel sad for having to have taken a human life. Or you can loose the draw, and for the last 4 or 5 seconds of your life, be thinking how you wish you knew how to handle that bad-boy better.

Success to everyone in these trying times. May you always hit your mark.

Wow! I didn't realize that many people had guns! I would like to know what you do to keep your kids safe. I am glad that we have our guns but I do have that worry in the back of my head especially as they keep getting older;)

I think customer service in general is becoming a lost art in today's society. It's no different at the gun show. That is one of the main reasons that I wanted to start GunShy, is to reach those people who do not feel comfortable going to a gun show or walking in to a gun store. In a future post I am going to address some of the challenges that average people face when it comes to buying guns and how GunShy can help solve that problem. Thanks for the post.

Hey, are the booth folks and venders at a "gun show" anywhere near as customer-service deficient as the ones at the coin shows? I go to the coin shows all the time and am truly amazed every time at the way these tradeshow patrons treat their potential clients and general booth-browsers. It's a wonder anything ever gets sold with such horrible and arrogant salesmanship. I dunno, maybe the Jerky people...er, gun people are different.
